The VALERECO project was recently presented at the 92nd International Agricultural Fair held in Novi Sad, Serbia. The event provided a unique opportunity to highlight VALERECO’s vision for sustainable agriculture and its innovative approach to integrating legume crops into European farming systems.
As a Horizon Europe-funded initiative, VALERECO aims to support the transition towards more climate-resilient and environmentally sound agricultural practices. Central to this effort is the project’s network of nine Living Labs established across six countries. These Living Labs serve as real-world spaces for co-creation, testing, and demonstrating practical solutions that encourage the adoption of legume crops in local cropping systems.
Legumes play a critical role in enhancing biodiversity, enriching soil health, and reducing the environmental footprint of agriculture. By working closely with farmers, researchers, and stakeholders, VALERECO is developing tailored, economically viable strategies to foster sustainable legume-based farming across Europe.
Participation in the Novi Sad Fair marked an important step in raising awareness and engaging with local and regional actors in the Western Balkans, particularly in Serbia—one of the countries hosting a VALERECO Living Lab.
